Today She Cried

I don't know when the last time I existed was

I watch her suffer and hide from her feelings

And I can't reach her to help because I'm drowning beneath them


Sometimes I don't see the surface for months

Because there's an ocean of tears she hasn't cried

One I can't wade through


Today she cried

For a really long time

And now I'm here again 


I can breathe

I can speak

I can love

I can be

Sylvia couldn’t disappoint everyone again. Her father would blow a fuse if she was kicked out of the academy. Especially after all of the tuition he’d paid. She would be sent off-planet in an instant. Headmaster Tole spoke. “Miss Enisa, you’ve failed to graduate three times already.” He was a stern man, face wrinkled with age, particularly around the forehead. As he lay in the comfort of his home in the last moments of his life, Draven Thinis was content. He had lived much longer than he had expected he would just a few years ago, but he had known that someday his illness would catch up with him, especially being a human. It was finally that time. His family surrounded him - his beautiful wife, in tears, his two younger sons mournfully gazing down at his decrepit form, his youngest struggling not to bawl his eyes out, and his only daughter, whose hand rested on the back of his wife in comfort.
